TORONTO - Although many fashion showgoers expected to see Spring/Summer ’14 designs, they were treated with an unexpected twist on the traditional show. The Target Holiday runway show put the crowd in the Christmas spirit during Toronto’s World MasterCard Fashion Week on Thursday night. The show was fun, engaging, lighthearted and full of affordable fashion. Opting for a less serious runway face, the models smiled, laughed, skipped, joked, hopped, and sashayed down the catwalk as fake snow came down from the main screen with the classic “Jingle Bells” theme song.

When Target landed on Canadian soil this summer, we knew we’d be in for a treat—their debut holiday show was nothing short of spectacular in showcasing pieces from home décor to cozy weekend wear and formal pieces.

Front row guests received the VIP treatment as Target provided an extra-wide couch, accompanied by plush throws and a rather dashing male model delivering wrapped presents. The overall festive mood made the show completely infectious as models ranging from kids, preteens and adults showcased fashionable staple pieces to keep you warm for the winter season ahead. Slouchy beanies, cozy hoodies, vibrant gloves, herringbone blazers, tailored party dresses, turtlenecks, coloured leggings, and printed trousers are a few items that graced the catwalk. Monochromatic black and white prints in plaids and polka dots of various sizes took over the show with pops of vibrant reds, indigo blues, greys and metallic.

The biggest applause was for supermodel Erin Wasson and the iconic Target bull terrier, who made a guest appearance at the end of the show.
