Lent 40-Day Challenge: Say NO to Coffee

According to my New Year's Resolution post, living a healthier lifestyle and getting physically fit was one of my goals this year and so far, I'm on the right track. I've purchased a gym membership (at UTSC) and have been hitting the gym approximately three times a week minimum, followed by making healthier food choices, and I've got to say that the kickstart to Lent has helped a ton!

For my fellow Catholic/Christian believers, Lent is a time where we fast and sacrifice our greatest temptations to feel anew as the Spring season approaches. According to Gospel Scriptures from Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus spent fasting in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights where he was tested in the wilderness and tempted by the Devil.

This year will be my first time partaking in making sacrifices for Lent. Aside from giving up meat, I've also decided to give up coffee and replace it with an assortment of fresh vegetable and fruit smoothies as an alternative boost of energy everyday! I was never really big on meat to begin with so that won't be much of a challenge but coffee on the other hand, is a different story.

Lent is said to last from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday, which calculates to 40 days. Thus far, I'm holding up well and have no desire for meat or coffee. It's only been a week and I'm seeing a drastic difference in my body and in the way I feel. I kid you not, I have way more energy than I did just a week ago!
