Fall Goals with NTC Fit Classes and Eva Redpath at the Academy of Lions

With the Nike Studio Pop-up closing and summer nearing its very end, it's time for us to revisit our health and fitness goals as the colder temperatures seep through at a rapid pace. It's time for us to bring our butts to the Academy - the Academy of Lions to be exact and put our fall goals to the ultimate test!

As the newest member of the Nike Training Club (NTC) crew, it's with genuine honor that I'm achieving goals and living a better, healthier and stronger lifestyle with a group of motivating movers, shakers and influencers within the city. It's uplifting being in a cross-fit studio space with a bunch of strong women!

Being that it was my first time at the Academy of Lions, it immediately felt like home. Upon arrival, I was greeted with genuine hospitality by the staff and the sweetest group of ladies from High Road Communications and Nike Canada.

Giving our new sneakers a go, Eva Redpath put us to work with NTC's newest high-intensity workout with pro hurdler Brianna Rollins' total body "Race Ready" drills. The 15-minute workout features five drills designed to help athletes build strength in their core, legs and arms. These drills include side steps with twists, modified explosive push-ups and single leg squats.

Aside from also assigning this for our "homework", she also put us to the test with 1-minute interval drills as a fit test to conquer our own goals. This included lunges per minute, pushes and pulls per minute, squats per minute, hinges per minute and rotates per minute. 

It also didn't end there - she continued to challenge us with other core interval workouts as she separated us into two groups where we battled and took turns doing burpees, modified pushups, 180 pivotal squats, and more. 

Gifted to us was a NTC Moleskine Notebook where logging our workouts are recommended to achieving and bettering our fitness goals. Each week, we will be given a Fit Test page to keep track on our weekly improvements as we continue to conquer the 1-minute interval drills in hopes that our reps and sets get higher per minute. 

My fall fitness goals consist of toning and refining my core muscles and enhancing my stamina for achieving longer distances when running. Another goal I would like to maintain is eating healthier and cutting down on coffee and replacing it with homemade smoothies and protein shakes.

Fuelling our bodies after a high-intensity NTC Fit workout is crucial. Thankfully enough, Nike Women, Academy of Lions and High Roads Communications had our breakfast on-the-go covered with an organic and gourmet protein bar, coconut water, an apple and a banana. I was energized to take on a full day of meetings!

Looking forward to this week's NTC Fit class and to achieving closer to my goals!
