Kimberly Newport-Mimran of Pink Tartan, closed the first day of WMCFW in quite the celestial way. Oversized tissue clouds (designed in collaboration with Toronto based, Mason Design) took centre stage as it ran down the entire runway. Pink Tartan’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection showcases the brands signature balance of luxury and sophistication with chic and cozy for the cooler months ahead. Emerald, sapphire, sable, cream and a hint of metallic gold are just a few colourways to expect from the upcoming collection.
The luxurious avant-garde collection featured quality wools, technical (yet whimsical) fabrics, high-twist cottons, faux fur (in various warm tones), and dramatic feminine trousers. Undoubtedly, the entire collection defines cozy-chic to its finest point. Newport-Mimran always knows how to seamlessly incorporate classic looks with modern touches to each piece.
Her simplistic yet intricate detailing in each look does not go unnoticed— structured cuts and tailoring were without a doubt, on point! Kimono sleeves, obi belts, romantic robe dresses, cape-like cardigans, wide-leg trousers and dominant faux-fur scarves stole the show. And to keep things cool and classic, a variation of toques topped things off.
As if it was no surprise. Newport-Mimran won Fashion Magazine’s “Best Collection” Awards during Friday’s WMCFW celebrations at the Design Exchange.
In addition to an outstanding runway show, notable guests were also in attendance: Cara Gee (Strange Empire), Annie Murphy (Schitt's Creek), and Jeanne Beker (iconic Canadian fashion reporter).
