Strauss Water Canada Aims to Change the way Canadians Think, Drink, and Live with Water

Strauss Water has recently rolled out a revolutionary drinking experience to Canada with the Strauss WaterBar - a water solution that provides convenient, stylish and an environmentally friendly alternative to bottled, filtered and tap water. I had the pleasure of attending an intimate media dinner at the SubZero Wolf Showroom with special guest Dr. Heather Sprenger and CEO of Strauss Water Canada, David Amiel, to discuss the inside story on modern hydration.

I recall having to skip out on my Nike Speed Run that evening and although I felt guilty, I was glad I did. I learned a solid amount of valuable information from Dr. Heather Sprenger who's a Lead Sport Physiologist at the Canadian Sport Institute of Ontario. She expressed that Canadians are exposed to more media about fitness than ever before, but from weekend warriors to professional athletes, most of us are walking around completely dehydrated.

Sprenger also specializes in the connection between hydration and fuelling, and explains: "Approximately one third of all exercisers and athletes are arriving to training or competition in a dehydrated state.”

Contemporary, elegant and compact, Strauss WaterBars comes in two models (T6 & T7) and an array of colours that conveniently fits aesthetically well into any home or office space. The Strauss WaterBar models implement a triple water filtration and purification process, which kills 99.9% of micro-organisms and bacteria and absorbs chlorine. This process combines an activated carbon filter, a micro-mesh filter and ultra violet light to deliver safe, great tasting water, all while maintaining the essential mineral elements including calcium and magnesium.

"The WaterBars filter the contaminants out of tap water while retaining the mineral content. This is superior from competitors who strip water of the essential minerals needed within the body to maintain optimal physiological functioning,” says Sprenger.

Accompanying our nutritious three-course meal were two cocktail options made with organic fruit, garnishing and your choice of vodka and/or rum. What was special about the evening's cocktails was the fact that each individual guest got to make their own water cocktail by testing out the latest Strauss WaterBar T6 & T7 models. With a simple touch of a button, our alcoholic beverages were purified, chilled, and refreshing than ever! Dinner never went down so smooth.

"Our goal is to make drinking water a fun and exciting experience," said CEO of Strauss Water Canada, David Amiel. "From drinking better cocktails, better teas, and better coffee, Strauss offers an uninterrupted supply of the best tasting water on earth!"

Fluid intake can come from a multitude of sources – from soup, broth, milk, juice, tea - with almost a quarter of your daily intake coming from food sources. However, the healthiest way to maintain hydration in your fluid intake is through water consumption.

“Mild dehydration [less than 2% body mass loss] can be manifested by a heightened heart rate, core temperature and perceived effort. It can also hinder mental performance which manifests in reduced motivation, drive to compete and impaired decision making,” says Sprenger who works with Canadian athletes at the professional level to manage their hydration for optimal performance.

"Our goal here at Strauss Water Canada is simple," said Amiel. "We want to change the way people think, drink, and live with water."
