Media Takeover, Air Jordan 1 #AWOK x VOGUE
Jordan Brand partnered with Vogue for a limited-edition capsule of Air Jordans as edited by Vogue and inspired by the woman in charge — editor-in-chief — Anna Wintour. This collection is described as the “first-ever women’s only” Jordan collaboration — produced explicitly for women and exclusively in women’s sizing.
In celebration, Nike and Jordan Brand hosted a “JumpWoman Brunch” — it was a morning focused on highlighting inspirational and entrepreneurial women who are propelling the city of Toronto’s culture forward. I covered the event and did a takeover for Hypebae.
Jordan Brand has reimagined two versions of its iconic sneaker. The one featured here is the Air Jordan I “High Zip AWOK” (AWOK acronym for ‘Anna Wintour Okay’) in university red or sail (white/cream) leather with a crimson tongue concealed behind a key-ring zip, and a signed stamp of approval on the sole with Anna Wintour’s signature.
Before launching to the public, a select few of us were given an immersive experience including: a Cut & Sew workshop (by designer Natalya Amres), styling session (with stylist Charlene A.), photography and set design by Briony Douglas, and perfume customization with The Perfume Bar & Aromachology.
“We recognize and appreciate the major trailblazing role you’ve played in Toronto’s cultural progression and believe your values and vision align with what defines the Jordan Brand.”
